Chandpur historical monuments

 

Kachua of Chandpur, parts of Hajiganj upazila and Mehra Sreepur area of ​​Shahrasti upazila are the oldest in the region. During the reign of Fakhruddin Mubarak Shah of Bengal (1338-1349) a mosque was set up in 775 AH, on the west bank of Dighi, which was excavated by Dewan Firuz Khan Lashkar. This mosque is probably the oldest mosque in the greater Comilla district. It is located in the Pirojpur village just north of Hajiganj upazila. Hajiganj occupies an important place among the historical institutions of Chandpur district. Hajiganj is derived from the market developed by Haji Maniruddin Shah (Manai Gazi) Haji Shop. One of the largest religious institutions in the district is Hajiganj. Historical large mosque was established in 1300 BS (1893 AD). Ollipur village is 6 miles west of Hajiganj. There are two ancient mosques in this village. Shuja Mosque built during a Shah Shuja period. The other is known as Alamgir Mosque, built during Mughal emperor Aurangzeb's time. It was built by Md. Abdullah estimated at 1370 AD. 1738 AD in the name of a monk called Mathah Khan of Aliganj The present is the current mahah khan mosque.

 

In 1351, Mehar came to Sreepur region of the famous Awaliya Hazrat Rasti Shah. 1388 AD He died. His shrine in Mehra Sreepur. Famous Hindu saint, Sarananda Thakur, Mehra achieved ten great achievements. Meher Kalbari has been developed at the place of fulfillment. In the name of Hazrat Rasti Shah, this region is named as Shahrasti. This is now known as Shahrasti Upazila.

 

Shahtali village, 6 miles east of Chandpur city, came from Baghdad, the name of the darshan Shah Mohammad Sahib. During the reign of Sultan Firoz Shah, he came to this region to spread the religion. He got landless land from the sultan. In the beginning of the nineteenth century, the first monastery of Chandpur subdivision was established at Baburhat in present day Mathhola. Babur hat was not established yet.

 

Nasirkot village is about 10 miles northwest of Hajiganj upazila headquarters. At the time of Nawab Siraj-ud-Daulah, the Kshatriya king of aliara in Kachua thana, Azhudharaam, declared him as an independent ruler. Nawab Siraj-ud-Daula sent the commander Nasir Khan to suppress him. Nasir Khan built a fort here. Chadda was defeated and killed in the war. Quote the fortress So Nasir Khan's fort is the name of the village, Nasirkot.

 

In 1882, the first mosque in the city of Chandpur was established in the donation of the Nawabs Begum Mosque. Hazariganj's Laxmi Narayan Jieur was established in 1878 AD. Chandpur Kalibari was established in 1883 AD. In 1885 Chandpur branch of the Assam Bengal Railway was built. Later, the steamer gauge of IGRSN company was established. Chandpur was known throughout India as a trading center. It was then one of the centers of jute trade. Chandpur was once called Gateway to East India in British India. Edward Institute of Chalatatali in Chandpur district is the first educational institution in a district.

 

GP Wise started the indigenous cultivation by installing kuthi in places called Sriramadi-Brahsankar, Nasimpur, Bharangarchar and Akanagar on the banks of the Meghna. In 1866, this indigo cultivation was fully developed. But in the face of resistance to the indigo cultivation in 1873, the cultivation of blue cultivation was stopped. Most of the blue kuthi has disappeared in the meghna. However there are still some blue kutha in Sahebganj under Faridganj upazila.

 

Name of a village of Matlab upazila is Matlabganj. It was formerly known as Bairagi Bazar. About 150 years ago, some birodi settled in this place and then people from the surrounding areas started coming to the area. Later this place became a market and took the name of Bairagibazar. In this way the market was created in the area and an important river pond formed on the banks of the Dhanagoda river. About 80/90 years ago, according to the name of Motaleb Jamadar of the nearby village Dighaldi, the Bairagi Bazar was named as Matlabganj Bazar. The upazila headquarters of the upazilas of Motlab upazila are now developed.
