Transportation

Aungikar is located on a lake in front of Hasan Ali Govt. Primary School. A Tourist can go to Aungikar by Rickshaw, Auto rickshaw; or his/her own transport from the main Bus stand or Shapoth Chattor . The distance from  Shapoth Chattor to Aungikar is only 0.5 km and from the Bus stand it is 1.5 Kms.

Details

Our great War of Independence is our pride and glory. To keep the memory of the martyrs of Chandpur alive, a statue in memory of Liberation War was built in 1989 in the heart of the town, on the lake that runs along the Shahid Muktijhuddah Sarak (Martyr Freedom Fighter Road). The architect of this statue was Professor Abdullah Khalid. Hussain Muhammad Ershad, the then President of the country innugurated this statue. This is honoured as the central mausoleum of the district. Every year on both Independence Day and Victory Day, floral offerings are offered at zero hour at the altar-stand of ‘Aungikar’ to show respect to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the War for Independence.
